Perceptor was approached by the Chief Financial Officer of an ASX listed organisation to act as a recruitment partner for a confidential and business critical Group Financial Controller role.
The major challenges were
- An incumbent candidate requiring a confidential search process
- Uncertainty caused by a takeover offer by a private equity fund
- The requirement for specific industry experience + transformation skills
Perceptor quickly mapped the market for suitable candidates, targeting specific industry experience and leadership skills. As the role was a key member of the Finance leadership team, we were looking for outstanding industry and technical knowledge as well as resilience and energy.
Perceptor ensured confidentiality by approaching a small number of pre-screened candidates and explaining the situation in an honest and transparent way. The ownership uncertainty was as issue for some candidates whereas some were excited by the unique nature of the opportunity. After rigorous behavioural interviews, a shortlist was presented to the client within three weeks and after several client interviews, the successful candidate was offered the role and accepted.
Solution and Result
Perceptor’s twenty-year expertise in this type of role enabled them to rapidly assess the market and hone the search to preserve confidentiality and speed up the process. Working in close partnership with the engaged Chief Financial Officer, Perceptor delivered an outstanding calibre candidate who has proved successful in the role and has subsequently engaged Perceptor for two key roles in their own team, both successfully concluded recently.
